James was born on January 2nd, 1863 on the island of Kos, Greece.

James's Father and Mother's first name are unknown, except that their original last name was Mastromichales. Mastros derives from the name Mastromichales which means master carpenter. Therefore, we assume that members of this family were carpenters in Greece. James Mastros was employed by Armstrong Cork Company in this country in the first quarter of the 20th century.

James played the bazooka.

Information from Sadie: James was a big man, tall with a thick mustache. He had a small, black change purse that twisted open; and he gave each child in the family a nickel when they visited. Sadie's Aunt Mary (her father's sister) and her husband Thomas Patinos lived with James at the corner of Strawberry Street and St. Joseph Street in Lancaster. When Sadie's mother died, her sister Catherine went to live in this house too.

He married Kathern Poulaki. (Date and Location unknown.)  James and Kathern had a child Michael J. Mastros.

He died on Nov 3rd, 1936 at the age of 73 and was laid to rest at the Lancaster Cemetery, Lime And Lemon Streets, Lancaster, PA.
