Family Tree James Mastros

James Michael Mastros was born on June 2nd, 1916 in Lancaster, PA.

James's father is Michael J. Mastros.  His Mother is Christina Mastros.

James attended Boys High School in Lancaster and completed the 8th grade.

Jim was drafted into the US Army and completed basic training at Fort Dix, NJ. He attended cook's and bakers's school in New Jersey. While serving in the European Theater, he was originally assigned with coastal artillery, but he became a Mess Sergeant supplying food to the front lines. His unit was attached to the Medical Corp.

As a child, Jim used a wagon to deliver newspapers. He worked in a restaurant in New York for an uncle. Later, he tended bar for his father in Lancaster; and later he was the propriotor of Mastros & Sons Cafe with his brothers George and Chris. He also owned several grocery stores in Lancaster and invested in real estate.

His hobbies include, carpentry, coin collecting (he was a charter member of the Red Rose Coin Club), and model trains (.027 guage).

Jim once painted his home on President Avenue a very bright pink! He died in the Lancaster General Hospital surrounded by his large and loving family.

He married Josephine A. Carmichael on October 24th, 1944. James and Josephine had 5 children, Dianne, Michael, Kathleen, James, and Daniel.

He died on May 16th, 1975 at the age of 58 and was laid to rest at the Riverview Cemetery, South Duke Street, Lancaster, PA.
