Boris Rakita was born on October 3rd 1974 at City Hospital in Banja Luka, Yugoslavia.

His father is Spiro Rakita and his mother is Jovanka Binjas Rakita.

Boris graduated from Hempfield High School Class of '94.

Boris enjoys traveling. He has been to several countries in Europe and has done some traveling in the USA. He enjoys soccer, basketball and swimming. He has had extensive training in tennis, and if not for the civil war in his home country, the former Yugoslabia, now Bosnia, he might have played professional tennis. He plays the electric guitar and bass drums. He was a member of a band that played in night clubs in Banja Luka.

Boris came to the United States as part of the AYUSA (Acedemic Year in the USA) program in August, 1992 for a 10 month stay at the Metz's home. He attended Hempfield High School. When the AYUSA program ended in June, '93, a civil war in his home country made it unsafe for him to return. Kathi and Larry signed affidavits of support and took him in as their own. Boris returned to the Hempfield High School for the 93-94 term and graduated. Boris then applied for asylum in the US. Boris's family - mother, father, brother Solven age 16, and grandmother remain in Bosnia. Most of Boris's childhood friends are living in many different parts of the world; some in Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Sweeden, Canada and several areas of the US. His native language is Serbo-Croation with English as a second language.

Boris married Rachel Jane Zeamer on September 9th 1995.  Boris and Rachel have one child, Lake.
